Names In The News - July 2008

Ann E. Massey was named president and chief executive officer of Alpharetta, Ga.-based engineering firm MACTEC. She was also named president of MACTEC Development Corp. With 29 years experience, Massey has been with MACTEC for 19 years and since 2002 has served as the firm’s North division manager, responsible for 26 offices throughout the Northeast.

Also, J. Allen Kibler Jr. was named president of MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, the consultancy entity of MACTEC. He will be responsible for the overall operational management of 80 offices and more than 3,000 employees nationwide.
Since 2002, Kibler has served as the firm’s South division manager, responsible for 21 offices throughout the Southeast. Kibler has also managed the firm’s national telecommunications group and has been a project manager for many of the company’s largest environmental efforts.


Eric Reichard was named chief operations officer for Charlotte, N.C.-based Rodgers Builders. Reichard has more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry. He has been with Rodgers Builders for 16 years.


Bob Hopfenberg has joined the Orlando office of PCL Construction as director of business development.

Hopfenberg will oversee marketing and business development operations in the Southeast. Prior to joining PCL, Hopfenberg held positions with Suitt Construction and Clancy & Theys.


Buric, a construction industry consulting firm, has named Edward Wrenn as project analyst in its Wilmington, N.C., office. He is responsible for defining design and construction deficiencies of residential and commercial structures.


Steve White has joined the Atlanta office of Bovis Lend Lease as director of operations. He will provide oversight for all areas of operations and preconstruction for the Atlanta office. White has 34 years of industry experience.


Len Moser was named vice president for national sports for contractor Barton Malow in Atlanta. Formerly project director with experience with sports facility projects, Moser will provide sales, preconstruction and construction support services for sports projects nationwide.

In other company news, Phil Roy was promoted from senior operations manager to vice president for the Southern region, with responsibility for Barton Malow’s Atlanta office. Before joining the company in 2007, Roy was vice president of operations for a Florida-based construction firm.

Christina Graham has joined design firm BJAC of Raleigh, N.C., as a construction administrator. Graham has eight years of industry experience.


Wakefield Beasley & Associates Architects, based in Atlanta, named Holly Grimes and Gene Hay as project coordinators in its Jacksonville, Fla., office.

Grimes holds a graduate degree in architecture from the University of Florida and has more than five years of architectural experience. Hay has a graduate degree in architecture from Andrews University and has more than six years of experience.

Betty Sanchez has joined the construction services group of URS Corp. in Miami to oversee the business development and marketing activities in Florida.  She is a registered architect with more than 20 years of architecture, planning and design experience. Prior to joining URS, she was owner and president of Sanchez-Zeinali & Associates, an architecture and engineering firm that specialized in transportation projects.


Ensite, formerly DBS Consulting, hired Gary Gasperini as director of engineering. In this role, he will assist private and public clients with land entitlements, site design and site development. Gasperini has more than 20 years of experience.

EnSite also hired Shellie Johnson as a planning manager. She will assist public and private developers with implementing growth management plans and obtaining development entitlements for privately owned property. Johnson has more than 13 years experience in land planning.

Newcomb & Boyd of Atlanta added four engineers and a marketing coordinator to its staff. Christopher I. Rehrig and Cato Walthour III were hired as mechanical engineers. Daniel A. Davis was hired as an electrical engineer, and George A. Walters III was appointed as a plumbing engineer. Additionally, Ashley L. Young was hired as a marketing coordinator.


Fran Pickett has joined BRPH Cos. in Melbourne, Fla., as vice president of the education group. Pickett has nearly 30 years of experience as a designer, master planner and programmer and was formerly president of Fran Pickett & Associates, an educational planning and consulting firm, working with BRPH as a consultant since 1998.


Ricardo Leal was promoted to president of Vila & Son Landscaping Corp. in Miami. Juan Carlos Vila, founder and former president, assumes the role of chief executive officer. Leal will have the primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations while Carlos will focus on promoting the company’s vision and mission throughout its eight Florida offices.

Leal joined the company in 1987 as project manager and for the past 12 years has served as vice president.

Lynn Marie Whately was named manager of transportation planning and environment and Andrew Nicol was hired as a project manager in the Maitland, Fla., office of TranSystems, a transportation consulting company.

Whately has more than 15 years of transportation-related experience. Nicol is also a certified planner with experience in transit planning.

Joseph Gomez has joined McGarvey Development in Fort Myers, Fla., as senior vice president of leasing and property management. Previously, he served as principal/senior director for CBRE Investors Strategic Partners in Los Angeles.


John T. Suskey was promoted to chief financial officer for Roger B. Kennedy Inc. in Altamonte Springs, Fla. He joined the company in 2006 as controller.


DYL Group, a developer of condominiums, hotels, resorts and retail/mixed-use projects, named M. Dale Reed as vice president of operations in Miami. Reed will oversee the departments of information systems, human resources, marketing and sales.


Architecture firm Harvard Jolly of St. Petersburg, Fla., has promoted Ward Friszolowski from senior vice president to executive vice president. He will now be a member of the firm’s executive committee and also a principal in charge.
Also, Jack Williams Jr. was promoted from senior associate to vice president. Williams has served as director of the Fort Myers office and has worked with Harvard Jolly since 1998.

Ronald Zajac was promoted to associate. He has been with Harvard Jolly for more than eight years.

Allen Mowry has joined Geith as OEM sales manager in Davidson, N.C., responsible for attachment sales to strategic OEM, rental and northeastern accounts. He has more than 10 years of attachment sales experience.


Cristobal Betancourt has joined consulting firm Miller Legg’s West Palm Beach, Fla., office as a senior landscape architect. Prior to joining the firm, Betancourt held management positions with other consulting firms in Florida, New Jersey and New York.


Catherine Cabell was named senior vice president of Southeast operations with Altman Management Co. in Boca Raton, Fla. The company is a division of the Altman Cos., a condominium developer and builder.

Cabell formerly served as senior vice president with Trammell Crow Residential in Houston. She will oversee the management of communities in Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

Chris Stoudt has joined the Orlando office of specialty contractor ISEC as Southeast regional manager. He has more than 15 years of industry experience.


Linda Flemmings was promoted to project manager assistant for commercial contractor J.L. Wallace in Fort Myers, Fla. In her new role, she will work with project managers and superintendents to oversee and manage all aspects of job-site construction.


E. Glenn Hargrove has joined the Tampa office of Ardaman & Associates as senior asbestos/indoor air quality scientist. Hargrove has more than 21 years of asbestos-related consulting experience.


RWA of Naples, Fla., has added Paula McMichael to its planning staff. She has more than six years of planning experience.


Jodi Maher has joined Stevens Construction in Fort Myers, Fla., and will manage the company’s marketing initiatives and assist in project development. She has 10 years of marketing experience.
