Tom Booth and Joe
Dusek were recently promoted to the positions of vice
president for Atlanta-based Hardin
Construction Co. Booth began his career at Hardin in
1997 as a project manager and has primarily been managing
the construction of hotels and condominiums. Dusek joined
the company in 1999 as a senior project manager.
Also, Mike Stevens was promoted
to senior superintendent. He joined Hardin as an assistant
superintendent in 1995.
Greg Hunter, an eight-year
veteran of the company, was promoted to construction manager.
The company also promoted Joey Holt
to senior marketing coordinator in its Orlando office.
Charlie Khan has joined HNTB
Federal Services Corp.'s Jacksonville office as associate
vice president. He will serve as Southeast division agency
coordinator.
Khan previously served 25 years in the United States Navy
where he led facilities management organizations and construction
programs of up to 1,200 employees and annual budgets of $120
million.
HNTB also announced Steven Wallace
has joined the firm as a project engineer in the Tampa transportation
department. Wallace has more than seven years of transportation
engineering experience.
Also, Damaris Yunes has joined
HNTB's Orlando office as a drainage engineer in the transportation
department. She has more than seven years of experience in
transportation design, hydraulics, bridge inspection, storm
drainage design and cost estimating.
Howard Greenstein has been
named senior area manager of Stiles
Landscape Co. of Fort Lauderdale, the landscape division
of Stiles Corp. He will be responsible for operation and development
of the Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River County
region. Prior to joining Stiles, Greenstein was senior business
development manager for Valley Crest Companies of Calabasa,
Calif.
Stiles Corp. also announced that George
Boué has joined the company as vice president
of human resources. He was previously vice president of human
resources for MasTec Inc. in Miami.
Bill Byrne was recently promoted
to president of Ajax Building Corp.
of Tallahassee, Fla. Formerly vice president, Byrne assumes
the position following the departure of Kevin Smith. Byrne
has more than 20 years experience in the construction management,
design/build and general contracting fields.
Also, Jay Smith was promoted
to company vice president, from the position of vice president
of business development.
Beau Bruce has been named construction/development
director at Kairos Development Corp.
of Atlanta. Prior to joining KDC, Bruce was the senior project
manager for ESI Inc., where he was responsible for design-build
projects throughout the United States and Canada.
Richard C. Girdley has joined
United States Crane, General Clamp
Industries and United States
Crane Certification Bureau as president. Girdley, previously
a vice president at Hill International, will take over the
duties of president from Julia Ames, who will continue as
CEO of United States Crane.
Robert Lewis Shaw has been
named senior consultant at MACTEC Engineering
& Consulting's Columbia, S.C., office. Shaw will
be working with state and federal regulatory agencies throughout
the Southeast, focusing on environmental projects.
Prior to joining MACTEC, Shaw was president of his own consulting
company and specialized in resolving environmental issues
in collaboration with regulatory authorities. He served for
20 years as deputy commissioner of the South Carolina Department
of Health and Environmental Control's Environmental Quality
Control Office.
John Strickland was recently
hired by Batson-Cook Co. as
mechanical coordinator in the company's Jacksonville, Fla.,
office. He will oversee implementation of mechanical systems
for the company's various commercial construction projects
throughout Northeast Florida.
He is a 30-year veteran of the construction industry and
most recently owned an HVAC contracting company based in Gainesville,
Fla.
Dorinda Hall Roberts has joined
the Tampa office of Carter & Burgess
as project manager with the firm's retail and distribution
division. Her responsibilities will include the development
and management of retail projects in Florida and the Southeast.
Roberts, who has practiced architecture for 23 years, has
experience in retail design and design management. She has
spent the past seven years as manager of architectural services
with the Eckerd Corp.
Norma Heims has joined Lamm
& Co. of Orlando as development and pre-construction
manager. Heims will be responsible for managing the development
and pre-construction process, including assisting clients
with financing, site acquisition, proformas, scheduling, permitting
and consultant coordination, primarily for clients developing
owner/user income-producing properties.
Rachel Morten has been appointed
associate designer at Foster Conant
& Associates, an Orlando-based landscape architectural
practice. She recently graduated from the University of Florida
with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a
master's degree in landscape architecture.
The American Society of Landscape
Architects recently inducted 32 new members into its
Council of Fellows, including the following architects from
the four-state area: Molly Feltham
Adams of Coconut Grove, Fla.; Catherine
M. Howett of Snellville, Ga.; William
H. Laubmann of Atlanta; and Perry
L. Wood of Hilton Head, S.C.
Fellows may use the designation "FASLA" following
their name to signify membership in the ASLA Council of Fellows.
ASLA is the national professional association for landscape
architects.
Elias S. Chakour has been named
region manager-sales for LBX Co. LLC.
Chakour will be responsible for the company's East Coast territory.
LBX manufactures Link-Belt excavators, scrap/material handlers
and forestry equipment.
Daniel G. Shephard has been
elected senior vice president of Martin
Marietta Materials Inc. of Raleigh, N.C. Shephard joined
Martin Marietta in 1989 and most recently served as treasurer.
Jeannette Simpson has joined
The ADP Group, a Sarasota-based
architecture, interior design and planning firm as an interior
design associate. Simpson has 20 years experience in interior
design.
Erin Jenkins recently joined
Southern Construction Group
of Jacksonville, Fla., as director of marketing and business
development. Jenkins will work from the company's Orlando
office, where her responsibilities will include new business
development, branding and marketing initiatives, media and
community relations, special events planning and advertising
management. Jenkins is a public relations and marketing professional
with business development and marketing communications experience
in the construction and real estate industries.
Michael J. Parkes has joined
Mechanical Services Inc. of
Orlando as project manager. Parkes is a 25-year veteran in
commercial/industrial heating, ventilation, air conditioning
and process piping.
