The St. Joe Co., JWR Construction Services Name New VPs

Kevin Johnson has joined the St. Joe Co. in Jacksonville, Fla., as vice president – economic development. His initial focus will be prospects seeking expansion and relocation opportunities within the aerospace, aviation, logistics and defense technology industries.

Johnson previously served as vice president of business development for the Research Triangle Foundation in Cary, N.C., which is the owner and developer of the Research Triangle Park. Earlier he was vice president of business development with the Greater Phoenix Economic Council in Arizona.

Tim Anderson has joined JWR Construction Services in Deerfield Beach, Fla., as vice president of operations. He has more than 28 years of construction industry experience, and most recently served as the vice president and business unit leader for Broward County with Balfour Beatty Construction.

Larry Josephson has joined civil engineering firm Wade Trim of Tampa as its Florida transportation market segment manager. Prior to joining the firm, Josephson worked as senior project manager and municipal marketing manager for HDR Engineering, also in Tampa. He has 31 years of highway engineering experience.

Christopher Garrell has joined the American Institute of Steel Construction as Southeast regional director for the National Steel Bridge Alliance. In this position, Garrell will be responsible for maintaining regular contact with transportation departments, bridge design consultants, and others responsible for bridge design and construction.

Garrell was most recently product manager for structural engineering at Bentley Systems in Exton, Pa.

The NSBA is a division of the AISC, and is dedicated to advancing the state-of-the-art of steel bridge design and construction.

Rockefeller Group Development Corp. in Miami promoted A. Scott Flatley to director of design and construction. Flatley previously worked as director of construction.

He has been with Rockefeller Group since 2007. He previously worked with The Related Group as development project manager. He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and building construction science from the University of Florida, and a master’s degree in real estate development and finance from Emory University.

Richard D. Sala has joined the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., office of engineering consulting firm Calvin, Giordano & Associates as director of administration, redevelopment and urban design.

Sala has a 23-year background in business administration, architecture, construction management and urban planning. He previously served as city manager of North Lauderdale and executive director of the Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency.

At CGA, he will be responsible for business development and service delivery in the areas of public administration, community-redevelopment agencies and specialized urban design projects.

Austin Hollo was named development officer for the Miami office of Florida East Coast Realty. Tibor Hollo, founder, chairman and president of FECR, announced the appointment.

Austin Hollo will be part of the development team working on One Bayfront Plaza. He graduated from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis in 2007, with bachelor’s degrees in finance and marketing. He previously spent two years as an analyst in the Real Estate Finance and Servicing Group at LNR Partners in Miami Beach.

McDonough Bolyard Peck announced it has hired Paul Grosskruger as a senior project manager. Grosskruger will be managing operations in Florida and will report to MBP’s Southeast regional office.

Grosskruger has more than 26 years experience in leading engineering organizations and directing planning, design and construction programs. Prior to joining MBP, Col. Grosskruger (Ret.) served as the Commander of the Jacksonville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Ron Graham was hired as the director of the health-care group of DeAngelis Diamond Construction Healthcare Group in Naples, Fla. Graham has more than 30 years of experience in the field of health-care construction. In his role as director, he will oversee construction projects from start to turnover.

The contractor also hired Terry “Mac” McCandlish, Robert Whitehead and Doug Young as superintendents. McCandlish and Whitehead both have more than 30 years of construction experience. Young has more than 20 years of health-care construction experience.

Richard Burnham has returned to Trauner Consulting Services of Orlando to head up the consulting firm’s new line of service offerings for the construction industry. Burnham, with more than 25 years of industry experience, will serve as one of the firm’s directors.

Burnham formerly served as vice president at Perini Corp, and as commercial director/procurement manager at Parsons.

Mark Neveu , a 30-year veteran of Orlando-based Terry’s Electric, was promoted to president and COO. In addition to his new role, Neveu will continue to serve as the company’s commercial division manager. Terry Quigley remains CEO of the company, having delegated the operating management duties to Neveu.

Steve Conenna was promoted to operations manager-commercial division at Palmer Electric Co. in Winter Park, Fla. Conenna has been with the company since 2004, working as a senior project manager.

Renee Hutcheson has joined consulting firm BridgePoint Construction Services in Durham, N.C., as a project manager. Hutcheson will focus on integrating sustainability into the design process, as well as facilitating design charrettes.

Hutcheson has 23 years of experience in the architecture industry. She is a LEED Accredited Professional and holds her architecture license in North Carolina, Florida, New York and New Jersey.

Newcomb & Boyd of Atlanta announced recent staff changes. Shawn P. Shields has rejoined the firm as a mechanical engineer. Shields, previously a co-op with the firm, recently received his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is an E.I.T and a LEED Accredited Professional.

Also, Connor M. King joins the firm as a co-op, and Heath J. Hester joins the firm as an intern. Both are studying mechanical engineering at the Georgia Tech.

Veteran Lane Co. associate Ka’Ren Sarvis was promoted to director of marketing and training for the Atlanta-based multifamily real-estate firm.

Sarvis is now responsible for overseeing the marketing of all the multifamily rental communities that the firm manages.

Larry Fortier has joined PCL Civil Constructors of Tampa as district health, safety and environment manager. He will focus on the implementation of safety programs, assist with training, and work to develop new HSE programs and procedures. He has more than 30 years of experience in heavy civil and industrial markets.

Katy Kalaproth was elected president of the Central Florida Chapter of the Society of Marketing Professional Services. Other 2009-2010 board members include: president-elect – Roz Crapps; immediate past president – Linda Hollingsworth; secretary – Karen Petersen; treasurer – Barbara Stiles; and treasurer-elect – Magie Chaffin.

Other directors include: Melannie Wright, Larry T.
